Plan 2021 with Intention and Get Things Done

Did you set goals for 2020? How did it go? 🤦‍♂️

I like a quote of Woody Allen – if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans. 😁

2020 felt just like that for me and probably for most people in the world – God was laughing. Most of the plans had to be cancelled, adjusted or revised.

I planned 2020 to be a year of a massive change for me; after 16 years of work in the corporation, I decided to start my own company and get new professional qualifications – become an accredited and certified coach. 🦸‍♀️

Could I have chosen “a better” year than 2020 to turn my world upside down? 😂😂😂
However, when I was recently doing my Year Compass exercise (highly recommend – you can find it https://yearcompass.com/), I could happily conclude that I made my big plans come true!

I am a proud owner of a company (I manage myself only but hey, you have to start from something). I passed exams to become a Professional Certified Co-Active Coach and Associate Certified Coach with ICF. 👏👏👏

I accomplished the most important goals I set for myself for 2020!

And I know why.

When you want something very much, you are deeply motivated to achieve your goals, you know WHY you want to achieve it, and you have a good plan – even pandemic has difficulties messing up with you.

If I want to point to what was the magic ingredient of why I got my goals to the finish line of 2020, 2 things were crucial:

1) I was deeply motivated by building a vision of what will happen when I reach my goals. I understood my goals behind goals

2) I built a detailed plan where I was in control of all that it contained

These two elements helped me when it got difficult; I reminded myself WHY I am doing what I am doing, WHAT is my intention and the values I am honouring. And I could look at the plan to see what’s next – putting me back on track and confirming I am doing well and AS PLANNED.

☝☝☝Ask yourself:

Do you know WHY you plan what you plan? What will come after you achieve your goals, what is your intent behind the goal?
Are your goals in line with what you value most in life?
Did you ask yourself if the goal is truly something you want? Or is it something your boss/mother/wife wants you to achieve, is it something the society requires? If this is the case, how can you make the goal yours?
What will be different when you achieve this goal? How will you know, how will you feel, what will be the observable behaviour, change, an action which will tell you that you are there?

If you are interested in the goal setting and planning and missed our workshop on 26th January 2021, reach out to me and schedule a call to discuss your goals.

I also prepared a great Worksheet – GOAL SETTING AND PLANNING WORKSHEET – a step-by-step guide to goal setting. Sign up for my newsletter, and you will receive it to your mailbox.

The loneliness of a manager

For most, becoming a manager is stepping into new territory, and very often, we step into it completely unprepared. I talk to many new managers who are surprised and often overwhelmed by how many new expectations they have to meet
